1. **Educate Yourself:** Learn about fear and panic attacks. Understanding the physical and psychological aspects of these experiences can help demystify them and reduce their power over you.
2. **Deep Breathing:** Practice deep breathing techniques, such as diaphragmatic breathing or the 4-7-8 technique. These can help regulate your breathing and calm your nervous system during moments of panic.
3. **Progressive Muscle Relaxation:** Learn and practice progressive muscle relaxation. This involves tensing and then relaxing different muscle groups in your body to release tension and promote relaxation.
4. **Mindfulness and Meditation:** Engage in mindfulness and meditation exercises to stay present and focused. These practices can help you detach from anxious thoughts and ground yourself in the moment.
5. **Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT):** Consider working with a therapist who specializes in CBT. This approach helps you identify and challenge negative thought patterns and replace them with more realistic and positive ones.
6. **Exposure Therapy:** Gradually expose yourself to the situations or triggers that cause fear or panic, starting with less anxiety-provoking scenarios and gradually progressing to more challenging ones. This helps desensitize your reactions over time.
7. **Lifestyle Changes:** Prioritize a healthy lifestyle by getting enough sleep, engaging in regular exercise, and maintaining a balanced diet. These factors can contribute to overall mental and emotional well-being.
8. **Limit Caffeine and Alcohol:** Reduce or eliminate caffeine and alcohol consumption, as they can exacerbate feelings of anxiety and trigger panic attacks in some individuals.
9. **Seek Support:** Build a strong support network of friends, family, or support groups. Talking openly about your experiences can help reduce feelings of isolation and provide a sense of understanding.
10. **Professional Help:** If your fear and panic attacks are severe or interfering with your daily life, consider seeking professional help from a therapist, psychiatrist, or psychologist. They can provide tailored strategies and, if necessary, medication to assist in managing your symptoms.
Remember that overcoming fear and panic attacks is a gradual process, and what works for one person may not work for another. It's essential to be patient with yourself, practice self-compassion, and celebrate small victories along the way. If your symptoms persist or worsen, don't hesitate to seek professional guidance.

Negative self-talk can be detrimental to your mental well-being and overall confidence. To counter this harmful inner dialogue, try the following strategies:
**1. Practice Self-Awareness:**
- **Identify Negative Patterns:** Pay attention to when and how negative self-talk arises. Notice triggers such as criticism, failure, or comparison.
- **Keep a Journal:** Write down your negative thoughts. Analyze them to uncover underlying beliefs and challenge their validity.
- **Externalize Your Thoughts:** Imagine your negative self-talk as a separate entity. This can help you distance yourself from those thoughts and see them more objectively.
**2. Cultivate Self-Compassion:**
- **Speak Kindly to Yourself:** Replace self-criticism with self-compassion. Treat yourself as you would a friend going through a tough time.
- **Acknowledge Imperfection:** Understand that everyone makes mistakes and faces challenges. Accept imperfections as part of being human.
- **Practice Mindfulness:** Stay present in the moment and avoid dwelling on past mistakes or worrying about the future.
**3. Challenge Negative Beliefs:**
- **Gather Evidence:** Examine the evidence for and against your negative beliefs. Are they supported by facts or distorted perceptions?
- **Redefine Failure:** Instead of seeing mistakes as failures, view them as opportunities for growth and learning.
- **Reframe Negative Statements:** Replace negative thoughts with more balanced and positive alternatives. For example, turn "I can't do this" into "I'm learning and improving."
**4. Set Realistic Goals:**
- **Break Tasks Down:** Divide larger goals into smaller, manageable steps. This prevents feelings of overwhelm and boosts your sense of achievement.
- **Focus on Progress:** Celebrate your accomplishments along the way, no matter how small. Recognize the effort you put into your journey.
- **Embrace Flexibility:** Understand that setbacks are normal. Be flexible in adjusting your goals and strategies when needed.
**5. Surround Yourself with Positivity:**
- **Choose Supportive People:** Spend time with individuals who uplift and encourage you. Distance yourself from those who foster negativity.
- **Create Affirmations:** Develop positive affirmations that counteract your negative self-talk. Repeat them daily to reinforce a more positive mindset.
- **Engage in Positive Activities:** Participate in activities that bring you joy, accomplishment, and satisfaction. Engaging in these can counteract the effects of negativity.
Remember that overcoming negative self-talk is an ongoing process. It requires patience, consistency, and a commitment to your own well-being. By practicing these strategies, you can gradually shift your mindset towards a more positive and empowering self-perception. If you find it challenging to do this on your own, seeking guidance from a mental health professional can also be incredibly helpful.

For photographers, a model release serves as a crucial tool for obtaining the necessary permissions to use the photographs they capture. It grants them legal rights to reproduce, distribute, display, and sell the images. By acquiring a signed model release, photographers can confidently showcase their work in various mediums, such as portfolios, exhibitions, websites, or commercial ventures. This documentation mitigates any potential legal risks and protects photographers from future disputes regarding the use of the images.
From a model's perspective, a model release is equally important as it outlines the terms and conditions for the use of their likeness. By signing this agreement, models grant specific permissions for the photographer to use their images in certain ways. This can include commercial usage, stock photography, advertising campaigns, or other promotional materials. With a model release in place, models gain a level of control over the usage of their images, ensuring they align with their personal brand and professional aspirations.
Moreover, a model release provides models with a clear understanding of how their images will be utilized, preventing any potential misrepresentation or misuse. It establishes a level of trust between the model and the photographer, as the terms and limitations of image usage are outlined in the agreement. This transparency fosters a collaborative environment and enables models to make informed decisions about their participation in specific projects or campaigns.
In addition, the model release can address issues of privacy and consent. It clarifies whether the images will be used for commercial purposes, displayed in public spaces, or published online. Models can set boundaries regarding the types of projects they are comfortable being associated with, ensuring their privacy and personal preferences are respected.
Overall, a model release is a vital legal document that benefits both photographers and models. It safeguards the rights, interests, and creative endeavors of photographers, while providing models with control over the usage of their images. By establishing clear expectations and permissions, it fosters a professional and collaborative relationship between both parties, ultimately contributing to the success and integrity of their work.

The mas presentation is inspired by Wilson Harris’s novel “Carnival”. It portrays vignettes from the novel which show the undreamt of resources of spirit which might lead us back from the abyss of mindless consumption and mindless loathing to gain access to some measure of heavenly love. My Eldest sister, passed away at the very tender age of 21.
She never wanted anyone to know why or how she died. The thought of how she chose to go would be an embarrassment to our parents.
They are now with her.
They collectively joined her in the afterlife in 2018.
She was incredibly smart, earning 9 distinctions in cxc level, and 4 in a levels, a high score in SAT to qualify for Wharton School of Business at University of Pennsylvania. In the Mid 90s. I believe she was the only one from her year at Saghs to receive such a honor.
Her topic of Study was Hindi and International Business. She participated in dance shows with her roommates for Holi, and Diwali programmes at her University.
She made our family very proud. And I was so excited to cheer for her and hear her friends in the crowd call her name before and after her performance.
I wish there was archival video show u all of those performances but i have no idea where its stored or who has copies.
She studied in summer months in Delhi in student exchange programs .
Made so many new friends. One guy she really liked and we as a family kept in touch with was Michael G. He is a much older white man who also was studying hindi at the time.
He became friends of the family and always managed to send us birthday cards that arrived on time for my mom and I birthdays. He was able to perform as an extra on some bollywood films and got a photo with Salman Khan.
There are friendship from saghs with friends that still remember her kindness and love.
I fed the staff, some business owners and customers some vegetation food to honor her memory yesterday.
#MaloosCatering always provide great food.
If you have a memory please share in the comments below.
Its seems like only yesterday you departed. I still feel you around me , your an angel i still pray to, you protect me always .
25 years has flown so fast.

Her hidden pleasure is also a source of inspiration. Fascinated by British period dramas and African American biopics, Jiselle utilizes the storylines to write some of her songs. She paints a picture of the characters’ journeys, sprinkling bits of her truth into her work to give her lyrics credibility. Jiselle is often referred to as an ancient soul. She has a deep consciousness of her impact on this world and her goal is to shift the paradigm of the universe through music that arises from presence.
Jiselle has just released a powerful and uplifting soul anthem 'Billion Dollar Dream' and another single release is set for early August.
I create genre-defying, soul music is dense, intense and highly textured just like my hair. The sound of freedom. I believe freedom is now and being present in the moment gives me inspiration. I want to motivate and empower people, especially our black people to live out our fullest potential.
Billion Dollar Dream is the soundtrack of my life's mission to shift the paradigm of our world through my music. It started off as a poem about a fall from grace but evolved into a motivational song as time went by.

Emancipation to me is the freedom to live out your life's mission and fullest potential. It means being educated on how to get what you want out of life without being selfish. Emancipation is not a historical date, it is a way of life.
How has covid 19 affected you?
Covid 19 has helped me to become more resilient and focused on my goals.
I am happy and grateful for the simple things. A lot of performance events have been cancelled but God's wonderful plans for my life have not changed.
Did you enjoy working with Ms Sharmila, Mr Babatunde and Mr Ameer on your recent shoot, would you work with them in the future?
I enjoyed working with everyone on this team. They were very motivated and dedicated and we all worked hard to bring this artistic vision to reality. I would definitely work with them in the future.
Were you happy with the images you were able to choose from?
There were a lot of great images to choose from so I was happy.

Our first clothing recycle was in 2018
Approximately 250 persons donated and 1000 persons collected clothing
The project was well-received.
What have you learnt from the first drive to this year, what changes have been made?
- some clothing donated were in unusable condition last year so we emphasised that persons wash clothes before dropping off
- there was a high demand for children's clothing last year so we made a special appeal for this type of clothing this year
- we were uncertain of a number of hangers and space required for the project, however, this year we had a better idea of these and was able to arrange more efficiently.
Can you give me an idea of the numbers of clothes that were donated last year?
15000 pieces

Vinod Kevin Bachan
“Nayika Ke Manobhav” Concept
Odissi in its formative stage as part of
Jatra had the role on Nayika or heroine
performed by only men. Once the structuring
and framing of Odissi started by the Gurus
they created and performed items based on
Nyika Bedha. Today we find this aspect of
Odissi dance on a decline and there is a division
in the gender in Odissi presentations on stage.
In the present times only female dancers are
performing Nayika based themes while the latter
shy’s away. To bridge the gap Vinod with the guidance
and under the watchful eyes of his
Guru-Padmashree Ranjana Gauhar, is attempting
to explore the tradition of the dancer who is a
devotee seeking the supreme. Thereby symbolising
with the Nayika who is eternally related to her
beloved, the Lord. These compositions are set to the
tune of the literary work of Jayadev, Surdas,
Swati Tirunal and Vidyapati. Vinod will bring to
the stage the different emotional states of Nayika .
Date/Time- May 15th, 2019 7;00pm
Venue- Stein Auditorium,India Habitat Centre
Vinod Kevin Bachan is a senior disciple of
Padmashree Guru Ranjana Gauhar,
a world renowned Odissi exponent, promoter of Art,
writer and film maker and President- Founder at
Utsav Ranjana’s Dance Academy. Vinod as a child
had stepped into the world of Odissi under the
tutelage of Guru Mandira Balkaransingh of Nrityanjalit
theatre in Trinidad and Tobago West Indies.
Kevin then made his journey to Odisha to study this
timeless art form under the Deba Prasad Das style of
Odissi in Bhubaneswar for a number of years. It was his
thirst for more that drew him to his present Guru who
has molded him and made him the dancer that he is today.
Kevin has also had extensive training in the south Indian art
form of Kuchipudi as well as various regional folk of Odisha.
As a young budding artiste, Kevin with the grace of his
Guru Ranjana Gauhar has performed in various platforms
in India and abroad and has received various awards and
positive critique for his performances. Kevin is presently a
scholarship holder under the Ministry of
External Affairs- Indian Council for Cultural Relations.
As a student of Yogic sciences, Kevin possesses a special
creative ability to express himself through movement under his
Gurus guidance. He has learnt to harmonize body movements
to rhythm of musical accompaniment developing a special skill for
rhythm and music. Multi-skilled and able to translate those skills
into movement that expresses ideas and stories. On the whole
Kevin’s training is deep and holistic.
Under the Guru-Shishya parampara, Kevin is involved in the
special methodology for teaching Odissi dance developed by his Guru.
In his artistic journery, Kevin dreams of reaching out to the infinite sky of Odissi dance.

Sharmila _SNPhoto108: Hi Ms Mandy Noel Please tell me more about your Event Planning Business ?
Mandy Noel:

hobby it become something that I enjoy doing.
Then I decided I’m going to take a step further,
that’s when Mandy’s Event Planning had
become official. Within doing it as a job,
I wanted to educate myself more on the
EVENTS field (PS I will not stop trying to learn
more way events are a concern) so I began taking

we have our up days and our down days.
On one of my down days I said to myself
“ Mandy you need a next source of income
for these rainy days”. I think of getting a job?
I think about starting a new business but
I was not financially ready. Then I came across an
opportunity of partnership. The founder of

My name is Roxanne Lewis and I am 29 years old.
I started running in primary and the early part of
secondary school, representing in zonal and district
sports for both short and long distances.
As the challenges of academic success heightened
in secondary school and being involved in various
other extra-curricular activities, it became
increasingly difficult to balance. Unfortunately,
I gave up running.
After concluding A ‘Levels, I continued unto tertiary
education, where I completed my Bsc. in Biology and
Biochemistry, followed by Dental Hygiene and
Dental Therapy.
Always loving physical fitness, I would go to the gym
whenever I could squeeze some time, but
I still was not running. It was only in 2017, when I was
invited by a friend to the Caribbean Colour Splash 5k,
did I run again. Not having trained for over ten years,
it took me about 45 minutes to complete and I felt like
I was going to collapse at various points.
Determined to do better, I participated in three other 5ks
that year, slowly improving my time and endurance at
each race. I now attend the gym 2-3 times weekly and
run at least 4 miles per week.
On Saturday 31st March 2019, I placed 1st female,
4th overall, in the Endometriosis
Support Run/Walk, which was a little under 5kms.
The weekend after I did Massy Stores 2019 5k - Run for Food,
where I completed in the top 50 runners.
My most recent and by far most
intense race, was the Bush Mountain TT
Warrior Challenge, on Saturday 13th April, 2019.
This run took us up Mt. Hololo and
through the bushy mountain trails of Cascadia.
Here I placed 4th female. A major challenge
for me includes finding the time to commit to exercising,
as I have full work days and many responsibilities at home.
I do not have a personal trainer, however, I participate a lot
in fitness classes at the gym, such as spin. I also do not adhere
to a strict diet, as I have always been of a slim built.
Exercise goals for me are therefore not body weight centered,
but rather strength and endurance.
In closing, I would like to encourage everyone to get involved
in some form of physical activity. Physical, social, mental and
emotional well-being, are all improved by exercise.
Walk a little, you’ll soon be able to jog.
Before long, the pace of your jog will become a run.

Many thanks to Ms Roxanne Lewis for sharing your story with my readers.
You have certainly inspired me to become more healthy.
I would like to wish you all the best in your future endeavours.

He agreed to answer a few questions about his experience as an avid short distance runner and participant in marathons across Trinidad and Tobago.
SNPhoto108: What challenges you may face as a runner?
Mr Akram Khan: My major challenge is fitting in training with my regular job and the responsibilities of everyday life.
SNPhoto108: What do you eat to stay fit and healthy?
Mr Akram Khan: I basically foods that are high in fibre, protein and complex carbs and try to avoid simple sugars
SNPhoto108: What are your exercise goals, do you have a personal trainer who helps you get to your fitness goals?
Mr Akram Khan: My goal is just to be the best version of myself and always strive to be better the next day. I train on my own and try most times to mix up my routines.
SNPhoto108: What are your feelings before, during and after a race?
Mr Akram Khan: There’s always a sense of excitement before any race and eagerness to measure your progress against the competition.
During the race is always where you’re tested physically and mentally and your focus on that given day,
When the race is over, although physically fatigued is the best part. Some people call it endorphins but there’s this sense of contentment and euphoria... where for that moment you forget about the pain and exhaustion and u just cross that line with a sense of accomplishment.
SNPhoto108: How many races have you completed for the year and how many are you going to do for 2019?
Mr Akram Khan: I’ve down about 4 so far, and once injury free about 8 more.
SNPhoto108: What positive message do you have to say to anyone reading about your story?
Mr Akram Khan: Physical fitness is the best investment anyone can make in their lives. Running/ jogging is a sport that almost anyone can participate in no matter their level of physical fitness. It’s just about making the decision to begin the journey... it’s quite rewarding
Below is a Photo of Mr Akram Khan.
Thank You, Mr Akram Khan, for allowing me to interview and providing answers to my questions.
All the best to you on your future endeavours.
SNPhoto108: What challenges you may face as a runner?
Kris Deonanan: I face many challenges as a long distance runner. My previous sport was basketball, however, this has left me with many injuries, the last being a torn ligament in my left leg. This "forced" my transition to running. When training and participating as a runner, I tend to feel the soreness all over very quickly. Funny enough this is separate and apart from the mental battles of contemplating "why did I sign up for this?" to just "finish strong Kris!"
SNPhoto108: What do you eat to stay fit and healthy?
Kris Deonanan: I normally try to eat local foods, from sweet potato, cassava, plantain, watermelon, banana, etc. I try to drink water regularly, and most of my juice is made at home from oranges, grapefruit, cherries, etc. On the weekend I do indulge in some fast food like pizza or bar-b-que. I no longer eat fries.
SNPhoto108: What are your exercise goals, do you have a personal trainer who helps you get to your fitness goals?
Kris Deonanan: Most of my exercise goals are tied to running. I set times that I would like to accomplish for various distances, such as the 5k, 10k and half marathon, and then train towards it. I do not have a personal trainer, but I do have a "running buddy". His name is Cy, and he is an enthusiastic and motivated runner!
SNPhoto108: What are your feelings before, during and after a race?
Kris Deonanan: Funny enough I still get a bit nervous before runs. This is exemplified by my 2 to 3 bathroom breaks before a race. During the race it is a constant "mind game" of observing other runners and trying to adjust my speed to the zone of "uncomfortably comfortable". Most times, my feeling after the race is based on if I accomplished my overall goal time.
SNPhoto108: How many races have you completed for the year and how many are you going to do for 2019?
Kris Deonanan: This year I have completed 2 other races. This is now very modest, as in years gone by I would try to enter every 5k possible. For this year I don't have a specific number set, but I would continue to manage my running schedule accordingly. Venture 5k and UWI half marathon are a must though!
SNPhoto108: What positive message do you have to say to anyone reading about your story?
Kris Deonanan: Positive message - Keep working towards improvement in all aspects of your personal life!!! Read a lot!!! Trust the process!!! Just get started!!! Don't stress about other people's opinion if it is not helpful!!!
SNPhoto108 : Thank you very much for letting me interview you for my blog, All the best to you and your future endeavours.

The Port of Spain Hindu Youth Group 1993 to 1996
The Port of Spain Hindu Youth Group was an Independent Religious Organisation which was founded in March 1993. Initially, the group was based at The Port of Spain Hindu Temple in St. James and functioned as part of the Temple’s Youth Group. The Temple operated under the umbrella of the Sanathan Dharma Maha Sabha, one of the larger Hindu organisations in the country.
In August of 1994, the group collectively decided to function independently from the St James Temple in order to facilitate activities and participate in events from other Hindu organisations. It was thought that this move would be more inclusive and accommodating to Hindu youths in Port of Spain environment and would also increase the range of experiences within the group and allow exposure to different aspects of Hindu experiences. As a result of this, the group relocated to 9, Cipriani Boulevard, Port of Spain and all meetings and practice sessions were scheduled at the homes of the group members.
The purpose of the Youth Group was to provide an environment and opportunity which would enable young Hindus to develop into stable, cultured and god conscious individuals continually following the Hindu way of life as engaged participators and not as spectators.
The activities constituted learning to sing, playing musical instruments, learning the religious texts such as Ramayan and Bhagavad Gita, visiting places interest in the country, organising various outdoor activities and taking part in as many festivals as possible. It also allowed the members of the group to increase in personal skills such as managing events, time management, organising projects and handling fundraising events.
During the time of activity, the group participated in a number of activities and religious occasions. Foremost among these was the annual festival of Phagwa or Holi. The first attempt at these celebrations was in 1994 where most of the members had not previously participated in Phagwa celebrations or even heard a chowtal (rhythmic song in either Hindi or Bhojpuri). The leader, Bobby Manoo,
got an audio tape and lyrics for a few songs from his uncle in Penal who was the leader of the very popular Sumatie Sabha Ramayan and Chowtal Group. The chowtal practice, therefore, began with this audio tape and assistance was provided from the resident caretaker at the St. James temple.
After months of practice, the group represented the St. James Temple at the annual Chowtal Samelan competition at the headquarters of the Maha Sabha and later went on to perform at seven venues around the country during the Phagwa festival. It was the first time that a Hindu Youth group from Port of Spain participated in these celebrations and feedback from organisers and spectators were very encouraging. The group was featured in a newspaper article and television news reports and was subsequently invited to perform for the President and Mrs Hassanali at President’s House. Mr Hassanali commended the group on its achievement over a short period of time and encouraged the group to keep engaging in cultural activities.
A Phagwa celebration the year after was a much larger event for the group. At this time, the group was operating on its own and had formed a partnership with Ramdeen Chotoo who led the Aranguez Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha Group. This partnership opened the way for both groups to practice together and allowed a rare and valuable opportunity for the young Hindus to learn from the cultural giants and also jointly participate in Phagwa celebrations across the country. The Youth Group performed before Ramdeen Chotoo and his group at the Maha Sabha Headquarters that year and the performance was exhilarating and energetic. The organisers remarked that the expression on the face of Ramdeen Chotoo after hearing the Youth Group said it all.
For the Phagwa day itself, a lot of planning was involved to raise funds for new uniforms and to organise the movement of nearly 70 people across eight venues across the country. The parents provided a lot of support in providing food, drinks, 4 barrels of abeer (coloured liquid) and of course transport, including two flatbed trucks with a banner saying ‘Phagmobile’ across the back of the trucks.
A Youth Group from Port of Spain created a stir again at almost every venue. This culminated with the group receiving prizes for best performances at 3 venues that year.
There were however a lot more other than Phagwa. The group took a leading role for the Pradakshina – The Vivekananda Run which was held in 1995 by the Hindu Prachar Kendra. This was a mass circumambulation of the entire island of Trinidad in honour of Swami Vivekananda. The POS Youth Group led the run from the point of entry into Port of Spain, overnight celebration and speeches at Woodford Square and continuation of the run into the East-West Corridor. It was another occasion where the group was featured very favourably in the newspapers.
There were always events planned on a monthly basis. Ramayan satsanghs, where the group would lead chats, bhajans and songs from the Ramayan or Bhagavad Gita. These regular events allowed the group to visit many temples across the country and meet a wide range of people. The group also collectively celebrated Divali, Shiv Ratri, Raksha Bandhan, Christmas and actively participated in programs at the Divali Nagar.
There were also a lot of occasions for fun. Everyone’s birthday was celebrated in some way or the other. There were regular visits to the shopping malls in Port of Spain and to the beaches. There was one occasion where most of the members went to see the movie Jurassic Park and took up two entire rows in the Cinema.
The group dissolved naturally around the end of 1996 as many of the members went off to tertiary education, migrated, got married and moved out of Port of Spain or moved into other projects. During the time of its existence, the group made a definite mark on not only the members but the wider national community.
Some of the friendships which have been forged in the Youth Group have continued to this day and the experiences, knowledge and learning opportunities have contributed positively in no small measure to the various life paths taken by all its members.
In November 2013, there was a reunion with the group and many got together with their respective spouses and children.

This is what he had to share with me.
Chris Arshad Hosein: "I started Phagwa in Reform village three years ago ( 2017 ) when I first became the Councillor for the area.
I forged a strong bond with the people in the various communities in my district (Reform being one of them) and have always tried to have community activities to bring the communities together.
I thought since there was no Phagwa in Reform, it would be a good opportunity to fill that void whilst propagating our culture as well. It’s always been one of my favorite festivals (notwithstanding the fact that I’m a Muslim) and I jumped at the opportunity to host this event.
The first year, I became really close with the folks at the Reform Shiv Mandir and the Lower Palmyra Shiv Mandir and they offered tremendous support for the venture. But above all, my family plays an integral role as they are really the driving force behind the celebrations. They help me with everything.
Also, the neighborhood tent rental company (Richard’s Tent Rental) has been providing this infrastructure (tents, chairs, tables, etc) at no cost for the past three years.
We receive zero funding from any agency or the government and we raise funds to cover the cost of the event so his generosity is greatly appreciated.
Since the first year to now, the celebrations have grown tremendously. Each year it gets bigger and every year, more groups would make their way down to the ground to sing chowtals and perform dances etc. I think in the little space of time, our humble community celebration has quickly established itself as a bonafide Phagwa venue which many families look forward to visiting and participating in the festivities each year."

Chowtal, aside from being the name of a "taal"/"tala" or meter in Hindustani classical music, is a form of folksong of North India's Bhojpuri region, sung by amateurs during the vernal Phagwa or Holi festival.
Bhajarangabali Kirtan Mandali of the Ramjit and Basso Persad Hindu Temple invited me to join their entourage today.
It was a fun filled exciting day.

My Phagwa History
In the Early 90s I was part of a small group of young hindus , run by an amazing guy named Bobby Mano, we called ourselves “The Port of Spain Hindu Youth Group”. We would practice for weeks before Phagwa to sing and perfect chowtal songs. On the day for Phagwa my parents lent us an open tray truck for us to travel together as a group, we sang in about 7 or 8 venues. Back then they would give prizes and we were informed that we placed first at 4 of those venues. It was an amazing Experience then.
Reflecting on the Time I spent with that group It is refreshing to see a Collaborative group of hindu youth come together to join in both singing and dancing in this celebration.

Black Pink
BLACKPINK-1
With promotional preparation beginning in November 2011 with the revelation of an teaser image of Kim Eun-bi, who was speculated as a candidate for the group's line-up, YG Entertainment revealed the final line-up and name of the group on June 29, 2016. BLACKPINK is the first girl group to debut under YG Entertainment in seven years after 2NE1. They debuted with the single album Square One on August 8, 2016.
The first title track, "Whistle ," was a "minimal hip-hop track," and was produced by Teddy Park and Future Bounce, and written by Teddy Park and Bekuh BOOM. The second title track, "Boombayah ," was produced by Teddy Park and co-written with Bekuh BOOM. Its music video was directed by Seo Hyun-seung. Their debut singles hit number one on the Billboard World Digital Songs chart and the fastest act to do so, and only the third Korean artist to hold the top two positions after Psy and Big Bang.
"Whistle" topped the digital, download, streaming and mobile chart of Gaon Chart of August 2016. They also reached number one on the weekly, popularity, music video, and K-pop music video chart of China’s biggest music-streaming website QQ Music. BLACKPINK first music show performance was aired on August 14, 2016 on SBS's Inkigayo. Their win in Inkigayo broke the record for girl group with the shortest time to win on a music program after debut (14 days). They wrapped up their promotions for Square One on September 11, 2016 with another win on Inkigayo.
BLACKPINK released their second single album Square Two with the lead singles "Playing With Fire" and "Stay " on November 1, 2016. The songs are similarly produced by Teddy with R.Tee and Seo Won Jin.They performed their comeback stage in SBS Inkigayo on November 6 and in Mnet M!'Countdown on November 10, 2016. "Playing with Fire" was their second single to hit number one on the Billboards World Digital Songs Charts.
On May 16, 2017, it was announced that Black Pink will debut in Japan in summer 2017, holding a debut showcase on July 20 at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo and releasing a mini album on August 9. A snippet of the music video for the Japanese version of "Boombayah" was aired on TV in Japan on May 17.
Within three weeks of debut, BLACKPINK placed second behind EXO for brand reputation based on a study by Korea Institute of Corporate Reputation in August 2016. Another study targeting girl groups revealed that the group's brand influence had already surpassed that of Girls' Generation and Twice for September. The chief of the reputations research lab described the feat as a "first". They became endorsers for several brands including Reebok, Moonshot and Saint Scott. They were also featured as models for major magazines including Nylon Korea, South Korean 1st Look, and Singapore's TEENAGE. To a spiritual aspirant, He is the divine master par excellence; to a rationalist, He is the greatest humanitarian on earth; to thousands of modern youth, He is the leader with a dynamic vision and a colossus of inspiration; to a devotee, He is simply divinity in human form; and to everyone who has had the opportunity to behold Him, He is Pure Love Walking on Two Feet.
Ask Bhagavan Baba, “Are you God?” And He says:
“Yes, I am God and so are you. The only difference between you and I is that while I am aware of this fact, you are not.”
And this is no casual remark. Indeed, inherent in this small, but extremely significant statement, is the fundamental truth of humanity’s divine nature - its true reality; and revivifying the heart of every human being to this salient truth is the mission and message of Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Very aptly, Baba begins His every discourse, addressing the gathering as, “Embodiments of the Divine Atma”.
All who listen to Him, experience His unconditional love, benefit from His caring counsel and witness His supernormal supremacy over mind and matter, get a real glimpse of the glory and majesty of God, and therefore, of the infinity that each human potentially and inherently is.
His Birth and Childhood
Sri Sathya Sai Baba was born as Sathyanarayana Raju on November 23, 1926 in the village of Puttaparthi, in the state of Andhra Pradesh in South India. Even as a child, His spiritual inclination and contemplative nature set Him apart from other children of His age, and He was known as ‘Guru’ and “Brahmajnani’ (knower of Brahman or Godhead) among His peers and others in the village.
However, it was not until October 20, 1940, the day He made the historic declaration of His Avatarhood, (‘Avatar’ means ‘Divinity Incarnate in Human Form’) that the world at large learnt of this divine phenomenon.
To read in more detail about Baba’s early life, click below:
The Intent of His Advent
Today, millions from all over the world, professing various faiths and hailing from all walks of life, worship Bhagavan Baba as an ‘Avatar’, and the reincarnation of Sai Baba of Shirdi. Thousands gather every day at Prasanthi Nilayam, His spiritual headquarters established beside the village of Puttaparthi, for His darshan (the act of beholding His sacred form), when He moves among devotees, blessing them and uplifting them by providing spiritual succour and solace.
Revealing the purpose of His advent, Sai Baba has said that He has come to re-establish the rhythm of righteousness in the world and repair the ancient highway to God, which over the years has systematically deteriorated. In His own words:
“This Sai has come in order to achieve the supreme task of uniting the entire mankind as one family through the bond of brotherhood, of affirming and illuminating the Atmic Reality (Atma – The Divine Self) of each being, to reveal the Divine which is the basis on which the entire cosmos rests, and of instructing all to recognise the common Divine Heritage that binds man to man, so that man can rid himself of the animal and rise up to the Divine, which is the goal.”
To read more about what Baba has said of Himself, His mission and His manifestations, click below:
His Glorious Mission
Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba is an integral manifestation who combines two very significant roles.
Firstly, He is a great spiritual Master, famed for His simple and sweet exposition of the greatest and most intricate of spiritual truths, which form the fundamental teachings of all the religions of the world. Elucidating on His mission, Bhagavan declares:
“I have come not to disturb or destroy any faith, but to confirm each in his own faith, so that the Christian becomes a better Christian; the Muslim, a better Muslim; and the Hindu, a better Hindu.”
His formula for humanity to lead a meaningful life is the five-fold path of:
Sathya (Truth),
Dharma (Righteousness),
Shanthi (Peace),
Prema (Love), and
Ahimsa (Non-Violence)
“Love for God, fear of sin and morality in society” – these are His prescriptions for our ailing world.
Secondly, He is an inexhaustible reservoir of pure love. His numerous service projects, be it free hospitals, free schools and colleges, free drinking water supply projects, or free housing projects, all stand testimony to His selfless love and compassion for the needy and less privileged. True to His declaration, “My Life is My Message”, He has inspired and continues to inspire millions of His devotees worldwide by His personal example to live the ideal that “service to man is service to God.”
The Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organization today has a presence in hundreds of nations in the world, and its members undertake any number of service activities that benefit their immediate community. And they do it selflessly and spontaneously.
Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba has thus emerged as a beacon of hope in a world that is desperately seeking an end to the unrest and sorrow prevalent today. His message of “Love All Serve All – Help Ever Hurt Never” is a spiritual salve that will lead mankind from the pain of darkness and ignorance and to the light and bliss of immortality.
Indeed, once in a millennium does such a Divine Being walk the earth. For you and I, and all humanity, in spite of the dark clouds hovering on the world’s horizon today, there is a silver lining - nay, a golden one. If we seize this rarest of rare opportunities, world peace and harmony, along with our individual emancipation, will no longer be a utopia. It will become as real and universal as the morning Sun.

Ashadhi Ekadashi also known in various names like Maha-ekadashi, Padma Ekadashi and Devpodhi Ekadashi is the 11th lunar day of the Hindu month of Ashada which falls in June or July. Followers of Vishnu, also called Vaishnavas consider this day as a holy day with special significance. Images of Vishnu and Lakshmi are worshipped on this day followed by an entire night of offering prayers in the form of songs.
This is a religious procession where people sing and dance in groups praising Vishnu which is called as Dindis. As per beliefs, it is said that this custom was started way back in the year 1810. Ashadi Ekadashi being just few days away, on July 15 this year, this day is also of great importance at Vithal( incarnation of Vishnu) Temple in Pandharpur, Maharashtra. The pilgrims are also known as Warkaris who carry images of various saints of Maharashtra in huge palkhis.
It is believed that on this day Vishnu goes off to sleep in Ksheer Sagar meaning ocean of milk perched on Shesha Naga for a good duration of four months. These four months are called as Chaturmas. Fasting also known as vrat is observed on the first day of the beginning of this month. And after four months Vishnu wakes up from his slumber and that day is known as Prabodhini Ekadashi.

Cascadura in the category Local Cuisine
A date for the exhibition will be confirmed within the coming weeks .
The Exhibition will run for approximately six (6) weeks in the Revolving Gallery of the Museum.
Inspired by the write Mr Samuel Selvon in the book entitled “Ways of Sunlight” . We refer to the story of Johnson and the Cascadura.
According to Mr. Selvon those who eat the cascadura, no matter where they wander, will end their days in Trinidad.
Summary of the story
This legend reflects in the story of Garry Johnson, an Englishman, who is in love with an Indian peasant girl called Urmilla. Garry goes back to his motherland but an illness forces him to come to Trinidad again, since his disease can be treated only in the tropics. At the end Garry and Urmilla get married.

On the other hand, an inexpensive tripod is worth getting, especially if you have shaky hands.
When I got a tripod, my satisfaction with my shots skyrocketed.
For even more stability, use your camera’s timer function with a tripod. Read your camera's manual to see how to
set the timers function.

Don’t go crazy buying the most expensive equipment right away.
It’s possible to get very nice photos with an inexpensive point and shoot. See these examples on Flickr. The more photos you take, the more you’ll know about what kind of camera to get when it’s time to upgrade.
sometimes the best photos taken can be taken with a very good camera phone eg Iphone, Samsung Galaxy tab
